How scoring works
Points
Each daily challenge has six questions and a score out of 100.
- Each correct answer: 15 points (six correct = 90).
- Speed bonus: up to 1.67 points per correct answer, depending on how much time you had left (up to 10 in total).
- A wrong answer, or no answer before the time runs out: 0 points.
Accuracy always matters most. A fast wrong answer scores nothing, and the speed bonus can never lift a score with fewer correct answers above one with more. Scores are rounded to whole numbers.
Time
You have 20 seconds per question, or 30 seconds for Professional English and Communication Master, which use longer, real-life situations. The time is measured by our server from the moment the question reaches you, with a small allowance for your connection.
Prefer no clock? Untimed practice uses the same questions with no timer and no speed bonus. Practice scores never count.

Levels describe your performance in that day’s challenge only. They are for fun and motivation: they are not CEFR levels or formal English qualifications.
Your first attempt counts
Only your first attempt at each daily challenge counts towards your score, your streak and the weekly leaderboard. Playing again is practice and never changes a ranked score. For the leaderboard, only challenges you start while signed in count: a game played before you signed in or created an account can’t be added afterwards.
Streaks
Your streak is the number of days in a row on which you completed the daily challenge (Paris time). Streaks of 3, 7, 30 and 100 days earn a badge. Without an account, your streak and best score are kept on this device only.
Weekly leaderboard
Your weekly total is the sum of your first attempts from Monday to Sunday (Paris time), so up to seven scores. If two players tie, the one with the lower total time goes first. The leaderboard shows your nickname, points, level and your country if you choose to show it, never your email. You can hide yourself at any time in your account.
Fair play
Answers are checked and scores calculated on our server, never in your browser. Using tools or other people to find the answers, automating play, or tampering with the game counts as cheating. We may remove results that look automated or manipulated.
